Previous experience leading and managing a medium/large team is essential as is a successful track record in game development. Additional qualities and requirements specific to this role include: -Must be passionate, motivated, rigorous and autonomous, eager and open to others, work effectively in a collaborative team environment with good team spirit and excellent relational and organizational skills. -Proven capacity to analyze and give the big picture, to adapt and communicate clearly, allowing him/her to work with all the other team members from other departments. -To manage an effective and efficient design team, promoting good team morale and performance. -To produce individual design task sheets from the project schedule. -To co-ordinate all design aspects of the project reporting directly to the Game Director. -Establish, communicate and maintain the design focus and game vision. -Oversee all aspects of design including brainstorming, map creation, prototyping, level population, level scripting, testing and final implementation. -Create, maintain and oversee the Game Design Document. -Prepare marketing materials: walk-throughs & playerˇ¦s guides. -Ensure that the Project Manager and all Department Leads are aware of any changes to the design. -Work with Department Leads to ensure that all technical, visual, audio and gameplay requirements are adhered to. -Running team meetings and ensuring good communication. -Ensure that all design requirements are met and that corrective action is taken if the project falls behind, or takes a new direction. -Work with any required external contractors and ensure all external work is correct and of the required quality, including scripts, storylines, etc. -Review/appraise staff and deal with general performance management of the team. -Coordinating internal/external recruitment for team vacancies in conjunction with the recruitment department. -Good understanding and experience on tools generally used in video game production. -Having released, in a similar role, at least two AAA title on any of the following: Xbox 360, PS3, Nintendo Wii, or Nintendo DS.
