Our client has an opportunity for a QA Manager in their studio in Cambridge. This role you will take responsibility for determining and enforcing the procedures and working practices of the QA department including co-ordination of the testing process and cycle for the project/s considering both staff and equipment allocation/output and timescales.
The position of QA Manager is a permanent one; however the QA team will be staffed with fixed-term contracts depending on project cycle. Therefore there will be times at the beginning of a project when the QA Manager will be the sole QA member of staff and as such their tasks will be expected to cover all QA output including testing. A key part of the role during busy periods will be to recruit, guide and keep motivated a QA team with junior and non-permanent staff members ensuring best practice is kept to at all times and during periods which may well include night shifts and other unsociable hours.
Responsibilities
•Implementing, running and maintaining efficient and accurate technologies for product tests and leading by example to create and work to an ethos of continual process improvement.
•Proactively look for and highlight any potential risks with milestones, production tasks and wider studio output. Troubleshoot issues as they arise, liaising with production groups, senior management and any external production on project status, schedules and any outstanding QA issues. Monitoring and verification of milestone criteria, ensuring that development teams are informed of all QA test results.
•Coordinating with the code departments to ensure that test plans are created for key technology with a focus on ensuring greater stability before game features enter production.
Requirements
•Sharp attention to detail, be highly analytical with the aptitude to learn quickly and effectively; and highly organised and responsible.
•A good understanding of the whole development process with strong verbal and written communication skills.
•Good knowledge of industry used database packages.
•Good knowledge of Microsoft applications.
•Knowledge of PC’s and Networking.
•Experience of working within QA in the game industry to at least QA Lead role
•Strong people management skills
•Upbeat and positive work style and attitude
•Experience of developing test plans as well as hands on testing
Beneficial, but not Essential Skills
•Experience with playtest and usability testing
•Knowledge/experience of working with/for industry leading testing departments
