Audio Designer

An opportunity has risen for 2 Audio Designers to join an innovative game producer with the experience of many critically acclaimed titles and two Bafta nominations. The roles, a senior and a mid-level designer, will involve creating, refining and implementing audio assets for cross platform titles, as well as assisting on other projects in production as required.

Responsibilities:

•Report to the audio lead and project producers regarding the sound design direction and audio-related requirements of the current game, technology requirements, resource issues, etc

•Perform sound format conversion, EQ, looping, mixing, adding DSP effects, normalization and sound balancing for in-game assets on multiple platforms

•Carry out audio dept operations; setting up, troubleshooting and maintaining equipment, archiving recorded material, engineering recording sessions, etc

•Keep up to date on current artistic and technical production trends in game audio

Skills:

•Excellent understanding of audio production, editing and mastering

•The ability to work collaboratively with the other members of a game development team, communicating ideas and issues clearly

•Very good understanding of EQ, dynamic range, compression techniques and multi-channel audio formats

•Experience with professional audio editing tools such as (or similar to) Sound Forge, Pro Tools, Cubase, Vegas, Waves plug ins, etc.

•Experience with source control software such as Perforce, Alien Brain, etc.

•Must possess a passion for audio in games, with outstanding creative and technical audio production skills, strong attention to detail and excellent work ethic

•An understanding of programming methods and conventions would be an advantage, especially for the senior role

Experience:

•For the senior role we require a minimum of 3 years’ game audio experience, including next generation consoles, and proven track record of critical audio role in shipped products

•For the mid-level role we require either 1-2 years’ game audio experience, or at least 1 shipped game, plus experience producing sound for multiple target platforms
